About
Kevin Chaney is an entrepreneur, investor and former trial attorney who has owned businesses in the U.S., China and Hong Kong.
A Marine Corps veteran, he received his B.A. in history-political science from Southern California College (now Vanguard University), M.A. in history from Baylor University, and J.D. from the University of Nebraska. Kevin taught history at the University of Nebraska – Omaha through law school, and later taught history, government and law while building a legal practice.
In 2004, he stepped away from law when an interest in international business and a tolerance for unique cuisine took him to China, where he established a company in Shanghai for an American manufacturer. The following year, he and a partner launched their own design, manufacturing and import/export company with divisions in the U.S., Hong Kong, and mainland China, where Kevin lived and worked full time for the next twelve years.
While in China, he launched other ventures, as well, including an art gallery, pub, garment company, and jewelry company. Some were successful, some weren’t.
After selling his interest in the manufacturing and import/export enterprise, Kevin returned to the U.S. where he and his wife launched Chaney Holdings, with investments in healthcare, food service and garment production. They also co-founded Monte Vista Capital, a real estate investment and development company in San Antonio, Texas.
Having a passion for business and those who risk everything to start and build one, he has the pleasure of mentoring several bright, driven entrepreneurs.
Kevin is a watch enthusiast and collector. He considers Emily Post and Amy Vanderbilt true American heroes. He would always rather be lounging poolside or on the beach.
A father of three, Kevin wrote Advice for My Children: How to Build Wealth as a step-by-step guide to building wealth for his children as they begin their careers. He lives in San Antonio, Texas, with his ultra-fabulous wife, Monica, and their miniature dachshunds, Bentley and Bijou.
